The 1950s season

This year, the Crouch End Players are mounting a 1950s season, with a variety of productions and entertainments spanning the whole decade, from an early 50s crime thriller, to a late 50s rock 'n' roll spectacular, and lots of other projects set to take place throughout 2011.

The first production Search by Night, a 1950s crime thriller by Victor Lucas, took place in May to critical acclaim.

A brief off-theme outing took place in August, when we revived our Putting On the Blitz wartime show at the request of the Beefeaters at the Tower of London, and we all spent a fantastic evening singing within the historic fortress. Luckily we were all let out of the Tower the morning after and we are now in rehearsal for a musical entertainment entitled Rock Around the Clocktower, which will take place at The Music Palace, Tottenham Lane on Friday Sept 30th and Saturday 1st October.

Rock Around the Clocktower is a sparkling 1950s entertainment which incorporates classic rock n roll songs and dance. Based around a local talent show, love is in the air, the Americans are in town, the night is young, and anything might happen. Travel with us back in time to see the music-studded drama unfold... As with all our events in this season, 1950s dress is most welcome, and you will also have a chance to take to the dancefloor yourself. (And the bar's open all evening too!) Tickets are onsale now at and are also available (cash sales only) at Officedog in Topsfield Parade, Crouch End. Previous musical entertainments have sold out, so make sure you buy your ticket soon...

We look forward to seeing you at one of our future shows.
