Christmas is coming!

The time is rapidly approaching for our Christmas show. Instead of choosing a pantomime, this year we have broken with tradition and will be presenting Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, adapted for the stage by Karen Louise Hebden. The music-filled play, which is closely based on the text of Dickens' original story, is directed by Kate Stafford. There will be five performances, from Wednesday 12th to Saturday 15th December at the Territorial Army Hall in Priory Road, Crouch End.
The show features a large cast, but for anyone interested in joining our group, there will be lots of opportunities for backstage and front of house roles.
The tickets are now on sale at £10 adults, £5 under 15s, from Officedog in Topsfield Road, Crouch End (cash sales only) or online from

Crouch End Players at the Crouch End Festival

The Crouch End Players most recently performed three separate productions, over the early May bank holiday weekend (5-7 May) with eight performances in total as part of the Crouch End Festival. These were:
Crouch End Folk & Fable is a celebration of the local area and its history and people in spoken word, drama and folk song.
Written and directed by Annie Windley
Hansel & Gretel an innovative half-hour fairytale from the Brothers Grimm adapted by Carol Ann Duffy - a family friendly drama for adults and children alike. Directed by Lindsey Pugh
Vintage Radio Theatre recreated classics from the golden age of the wireless from the 1940s: I Saw Myself Running by Antony Ellis, a psychological tale of nightmares and fear, and Sherlock Holmes and the Adventure of the Tolling Bell, a case of murder and manipulation in rural England based on a story by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Directed by Heather Strongman.

The productions were a roaring success, with Folk & Fable and Hansel & Gretel completely sold out. In fact the queue for returns at Hansel & Gretel's Monday morning performance stretched from the Philosophers' Garden out to the entrance to Priory Park!

We are currently preparing a number of new productions which will be staged before the end of the year.
To ensure that you never miss out on any of our future productions,  many of which do sell out in advance, please email and request to go on our mailing list.

Thank you to all who bought raffle tickets at our recent production of the pantomime Sleeping Beauty. The proceeds are going to support  David Tims - our musical director for the past three years - in his work with Ichanga Primary School in South Africa. David is raising money to build and maintain a music room and has now returned to South Africa to continue his teacher training and to lead a choir of young people, using the power of song to give hope and purpose to a generation of children who might otherwise never find their voices.

The lucky winners are:

221(pink) - Gina (night at hotel)
313(pink)  - Beth (DVD box sets)
322 (pink) - Rosie (hairdressing)
238(pink) - Mark (personal training sessions)
808(yellow) - James (comedy club tickets)
459(pink) - Pip (Singin' in the Rain tickets)

Thanks again to everyone who contributed.
